Founded in 1836, GUSTAVE LORENTZ currently owns 33 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of Bergheim in the heart of the Alsace vineyards, with 12 hectares classified as Grand Cru in Altenberg de Bergheim and 1.5 hectares in the Grand Cru Kanzlerberg.
Pale yellow color with new gold highlights, extremely clean and very bright.
The uniqueness of this wine’s aromas is complex and delightful, first offering ripe exotic fruits reminiscent of lychee, quince, and orange peel. The floral notes are also prominent: roses and nectar/honey. In the background, there are some creamy notes, a bit of caramel, cinnamon, and cardamom. Just as its nose stands out, its flavor shines with intensity; the fruit is very pronounced, with good body, low acidity, and a luscious alcohol presence. The explosion of aromas confirmed on the retronasal passage suggests a rich, fruity flavor with a distinctive and pleasant bitter trace.
A wine well-suited for slightly exotic culinary styles, such as Asian, Thai, and Indian curries, as well as dishes with fruit sauces or chutneys. It pairs excellently with seasonings of cinnamon, ginger, or peppers. Its most typical dishes are roasted pork, German sausages, and sauerkraut.
